story time

Every night as part of the bedtime routine the boys get their jammies on and we find blankets and sippys, then we all gather in Ashton's room to read books.

Ashton has been getting these book orders through his preschool and it totally brought back me being in school and pouring over the book orders and wishing I could get some books, anyways I decided to get some new books.  I thought that the boys would like some new ones to read and there were some pretty good deals.  So we got the new books and there have been a few favorites we have to read every night.  One of them is "the Hungry Caterpillar" and another one is "we are opposites."

I was getting ready for the day a few days ago and I over heard Ashton and Noah  in Ashton's room and they were looking at books.  All of the sudden I heard Ashton reading "we are opposites"  it is a really simple book with pictures of animals and it says things like "I am clean" "Your dirty", "I'm dry" "Your wet".  Ashton read the whole book.  I was totally shocked, so tonight while we were reading I thought it would be fun to have Ashton read and show Jason.  So he read the opposites book, then he read the hungry caterpillar.  He has read the opposites book word for word.  Then I had him read the hungry caterpillar next.  He did pretty good with this one he didn't read it word for word by any means but he had the story down.

Jason was floored, and I have to say so am I.  Now I know he isn't actually reading the words, he is using the pictures and telling us what they are saying but  it is still awesome to watch and to realize that my first born is getting so big.

iphone= love

I was tired of looking at my last post so I am posting something new :) This is all a bunch of random pictures taken from the iphone. I have to say that I love my iphone, I can't imagine life without it.  Okay that may be a stretch but I sure do love this phone.

While daddy was mowing the lawn, the boys wanted to get in the action with grass and their lawn mowers, they made quite the mess all over the driveway but they had fun.

breakfast would not be the same without a bowl on the head right?

If your going to eat ice cream it is best to get the entire scoop on your spoon all at once.  While your at it lets get the ice cream all over your face, and of course you must offer a bit to mommy.

Please be sure to hold on tight with both hands while falling asleep in the car.

What I Wore Wednesday

So for a while now I have been trying to decide to participate in this, I came across this at  The Pleated Poppy and once a week she posts what she wore the week before.  This is a great way to get out of your pj's and get dressed.

If I were to be honest here some days it is a challenge to get dressed when I know I am not going anywhere and no one will see me.  I am not sure why this is, I get the boys dressed and do their hair every day, so I am not sure why it is a challenge to do it for myself.  So I finally decided to participate.  I hated taking pictures of myself, it is not easy to do and I don't like most of them but oh well.  As weird as this sounds I discovered if I get dressed I feel better about myself and  I seem to get more done then if I stay in my pj's all day.

I have no words

Noah wanted some cheese this afternoon, so I got him some in a bowl and turned to finish making dinner.  When I turned back around this is what he was doing.  I was mad at first then I grabbed my phone and documented it.  This child is is going to drive me crazy!

Noah has been climbing out of his crib for quite a while now.  He had gotten better about staying in bed, it usually only took once or twice putting him back to bed and if we were lucky we would put him down and he stayed.  It was kind of nice that he was able to get out of bed when he woke up, he would just get out of bed and come and find me.  We did worry about him hurting himself by climbing out of the crib, so Jason decided to convert the crib tonight.  The crib came with the railing to make the crib a toddler bed but we hadn't used it yet.  To say the boys loved it would be and understatement.  They had a blast jumping on the bed and out of it.  To say that I am terrified is also an understatement, I wasn't ready for Noah to have this kind of freedom, I realize he was climbing out anyways but this will make it that much easier.  Lets just hope that he doesn't abuse his freedom.

Twin's b-day

It was the Twins birthday on Friday so we had a dinner and get together for them at Dad and Val's house.  AS usual the food was fantastic and it was nice to be all together as a family.

I know everyone LOVES it when I pull out the camera, but that is my job to take pictures to remember all these family things :)

Angela and Leland birthday boy #1, I only got a picture of Angela because I promised to only show her face, she is 8 months pregnant and doesn't think she looks cute but she is wrong!  She is one cute pregnant girl.  I wish I looked as good as she does when I am pregnant.

Birthday boy #2 Aaron

Leslie, Dad, Lindsey, and Val

Of course we needed to have some pictures of the favorite nephew and the birthday boys

Not sure who took this one I don't remember doing it, Josh and Tyson they are quite the pair

The look on the twins faces should tell you how they really feel about all my picture taking.  I made them this dessert it was cream puffs with  chocolate and powdered sugar over all of it.  Happy Birthday Leland and Aaron we love you guys

Leland

So about a week and a half ago,  on the 16th I got a collect phone call from Leland.  He was home on leave and wanted some one to come and pick him up from the airport.  I was the lucky one who got to do it, but only because I was the only one who was quick enough to get a credit card out to pay for the phone call.

I was happy to go and get him, and Ashton was pretty excited to see Uncle Leland too.  I picked him up and he came back to my house and hung out for a little bit and Dad who was on his way home from Ogden picked him up and took him home.

When I drove up to get him, he was talking to this old guy.  As I walked up to say hi the old man said " I am going to pray from him"  I thought it was kind of cute

Day Date

Jason and I have had the best day ever.  My mom took the boys last night and is keeping them till tomorrow.  I know I have the best mom in the world, she is willing to take the boys even when I know she is buried in things that she needs to do for herself, but she puts that aside to spend time with her grandchildren.

So last night we went to a late movie, we saw Easy A it was a cute entertaining movie.  This morning we got up and tried to decide what to do.  I threw out some ideas and Jason wasn't so keen on any of them, but lets face it if he had his choice we would stay home and not go anywhere (he is a homebody).  But I wanted to do things that are not possible with the boys in tow.

We went to the Farmers Market downtown, and got some delicious peaches, Asiago Cheese Bread, and some Espresso and Lavender Rubbed cheese this cheese was amazing.  We had some fire roasted pizza and topped it all off with some kettle corn.  It was only about 1pm by this time and I wasn't really ready to go home but we did need to get the cheese in the fridge so we headed home and had a snack with our bread, peaches, and cheese and headed out again.

We next headed to some consignment shops in the area found a lot of cool things but nothing that we had to have, and for lack of anything else to do we went to another movie.  This time it was Jason's choice we went and saw Wall Street: Money never sleeps.  It was good I enjoyed it.  We don't get to many movies any more so it was fun seeing two in two days.

I wasn't ready to be home yet and was hungry again, so we went to Sawadee for dinner.  It was a beautiful night so we sat outside on the patio and had chicken satay and yellow curry.  It was delicious and hit the spot, especially since I don't have to clean up anything.

It was such a wonderful and much needed day to spend with my husband with out the boys.  I don't realize how much I miss spending time with him alone until we actually get to do it.  I have said this before but I am so fortunate to have parents close by that are willing to take my kids and let Jason and I have time for one another.
