Birthday weekend

Thanks to my wonderful husband I had an awesome birthday weekend. For every decade I got to have a day of celebration. It started Friday night with roses, dinner and shopping. Saturday we went to breakfast, worked in the yard, went to lunch then, went out with some friends. Sunday I got the best gift ever, Ashton slept in until 9:00am it was awesome he knew what would make mom the happiest. Then we went to my mom's house for a party with the family. It was a fun filled weekend that I didn't have to make a meal, got to sleep in, I even got out of changing dirty diapers. It wasn't a bad was to bring in my 30's

Daddy's Boy

Until just recently Ashton has pretty much been a mommas boy. He would come to me over Jason most of the time. Well the last couple of weeks I have been working a ton and been traveling so Jason has spent a whole lot more time with Ashton then I have. There have been days where I would leave even before Ashton was out of bed in the morning and when I got home he would already be in bed asleep. So it is of no surprise to me that Ashton is now in a Daddy phase. It makes Jason so happy that he will push me away and only wants daddy to hold him or do things for him. I think it is so cute, I kept telling Jason that this day would come when mom wasn't so cool anymore, it just happened sooner than expected :(

Jason was out mowing the lawn the other day, and Ashton was out helping him with his own lawn mower it was so cute.

Dyson

I was so excited when I came home yesterday, our new vacuum cleaner was sitting on the front step. Last year about this time we got new carpet through the whole house. Since then I have been wanting a new vacuum cleaner one that would work a lot better then the one that we had. Anyways we decided that a Dyson was what we wanted. They were just so expensive I just didn't want to spend Over $500 for a vacuum cleaner. I don't like to vacuum that much.

Fast forward a year and we can't take our crappy vacuum any more. Jason found a great deal online. We got a Dyson DC-17 Animal. With having so many cats we needed one that would be good at getting the cat hair up.
It was a amazing how much stuff we got out of the carpet. I was a little shocked I had to empty the canister three times for the whole house, and I had just vacuumed. How silly is it that I am this happy about a vacuum cleaner.

Dad and Valerie's Wedding Day

My Dad got married today to a wonderful lady named Valerie. It turned out to be a beautiful day for an outside wedding. When I got up this morning it was rainy and overcast and I was a little bit worried about it raining, but it cleared up and was beautiful.

I made their wedding cakes, they decided they didn't want to do the big wedding cake thing and they just wanted sheet cakes. I just that was to boring so I decided that they needed a couple of small wedding cakes in different flavors to serve instead. I ended up making a red velvet, carrot, choc with choc mousse, and white cake with raspberry. They turned out pretty good. I was worried about there being to much cake left but it ended up being not to bad.

Ashton had so much fun running around with all the other kids and just being a little boy it was fun to watch him. He didn't want to sit still during the ceremony so I had to stand at the back so he wouldn't make to much noise. It was nice after that to be able to let him run around and we didn't need to worry or make him be quiet.

New Orleans

I had to go to New Orleans this last weekend for work, I left Thursday and I just got home today. I knew it was going to be a lot of work but the 12 hour days and all the walking back and forth to and from the convention center in the hot humid weather was a killer. I would fall into bed every night. I did make it to bourbon street on night but I left by 9:30 before it got to wild and crazy, I figured that I did need to at least say I have been to bourbon street. I even got some beads and threw some beds to people walking down the street. This was my first time in New Orleans, and I enjoyed it I even tried some new food while I was there. I had fried Alligator, Crawfish, and Fried green tomatoes I didn't like the tomatoes but the alligator and crawfish weren't to bad.
This is the Mississippi river which was a first for me. We were told that the levee that was right here didn't break so this area didn't have as much damage as some of the other areas around.

This was the St. Charles Catholic church(I think if I remembered right) It was beautiful and on both sides were two museums I wanted to go see but never had the chance. The one day that I did have some free time was Monday and all the museums and the aquarium were all closed, oh well.

I am glad that I was able to go to New Orleans it was a great experience, but I missed my boys at home and I felt especially bad when Jason came down with a case of walking pneumonia, so my mom took Ashton for the weekend so he could just get better, and I know that was a huge help for Jason, and for me knowing that Ashton was being taken care of and Jason wasn't having to do it while he felt so bad. I am just so happy to be home.
