Marilynn and Kirk's Wedding

My good friend Marilynn got married last night and she had asked me to do her wedding cake.  I was so excited for her and I was so happy to do her cake.  I did her cake for her for a wedding present, I hope she liked how it turned out, I was thrilled with it.  She wanted a key lime cake and I had never made one before, so I did some research and found some recipes online and tried out a few.  Then I made 4 different types of icing to try also, two types of butter cream and two types of cream cheese.  I had Marilynn come and taste them and we decided on one.  I am pretty happy with how it turned out.  It was a key lime cake with a key lime flavored whipped cream cheese icing and filling then covered with fondant.

While Marilynn and Kirk were cutting the cake I noticed the little finger mark in the cake, I thought it was pretty funny.  Kids just can't seem to resist putting their fingers in the cake.

They got married in the Bearnson's backyard and it was a beautiful night for a wedding it was a perfect night.  I am so happy for both of them and I wish them lots of happiness.

Mom and Myron were there and it was nice to have them to help out with the boys, Jason was not able to make it he was still at work.

I wanted a picture of me and the boys, but I waited to long and it was the end of the night and both of them were tired and ready to go home.

Happy Father's Day

With so many wonderful men in my life our father's day turned out to be pretty busy.  I am blessed to have two awesome dad's that are always there and willing to help and do whatever they can to help our family.  Plus I am married to one wonderful man, who is a great father.

Happy Father's day Jason I couldn't ask for a better father to the boys, you  love the boys with all that you have and I love that about you.  From the moment you saw Ashton you were in love, you had never changed a diaper before so you took it upon yourself to change all his diapers in the hospital because you needed to learn sometime.  From there it has only gotten better, you will do anything for your children, they may drive us nuts sometimes but no matter what you will love them.

Then Noah showed up and we got to do it all over again.

We are so very lucky to have such a great daddy in our lives.

We survived

So I have been trying to get Jason to go camping for a while now.  I love camping I grew up doing it and I wanted my kids to be able to have the experience as well.  Jason is not a camper he likes all things electronic and camping is about as far from that as possible.  Well some friends invited us to go camping with them and to go rafting, and Jason surprisingly enough agreed to go.  So I went about getting us ready to and planning what we needed to take with us.  Then I checked what the weather was going to be like and it was not suppose to be great, rain on and off and the best day was going to be Monday the day we were suppose to go rafting but also the day we headed home.

I was not thrilled with the what the weather was suppose to be like, but plans were already made and I knew a little rain wouldn't kill us.  I am happy to report that we made it through the weekend and we had a lot of fun doing it.  Jason even had a good time (hallelujah)

We headed to flaming gorge and stayed at the mustang ridge campground.  It was an awesome site, we could see the gorge and the damn from our site, the boys had a blast running around, throwing rocks in the water, playing with the animals, and just being outside.  There were chipmunks all over, Nate, Macie, and Ashton were trying to get the chipmunks to come and eat the crackers they had left out for them.

We were there with two other families the Gibson's and the Maxwell's.  Ashton's new favorite person after this weekend was Kevin, he would of followed him any where it was, Where's "Feven" in Ashton language all day when ever he couldn't find him.  It was actually quite funny.  Sorry Maxwell's I meant to get a family picture but forgot.

Noah we discovered has no fear and no boundaries, he would take off an not look back, he just wanted to explore and see everything.  He loved climbing all over rocks and it made me really nervous especially when we were close to the cliffs.

We got there Saturday early evening and it was cloudy and overcast but we got our tent set up and everything before it started raining.  It wasn't awful it was more like a sprinkle off and on.  We headed to bed and it wasn't too long before it started pouring and it rained all night but we were dry and warm inside the tent.

This was us trying to warm our backsides before going to bed.  We spent a lot of time around the fire, keeping warm.
Sunday we woke up to rain and it kept raining for a few hours, we hung out in the trailer with the Gibson's and before long it stopped raining.  The sun even decided to make an appearance a few times that day.
Ashton first thing in the morning, He was sleeping against the side of the tent so his hair was a mess.

Good morning Kol family

The boys wanted breakfast, so Fruit loops it was!!  We had an some awesome breakfast burritos later, that of course Ashton wanted nothing to do with but Noah loved them and couldn't get enough.  I couldn't either for that matter I had two and then had to stop myself from having any more they were delicious.

Baby Ben was happy most of the time hanging out in the back pack as long as he was outside and could see people.

Monday we woke up to cloudy and over cast then the sun came out and turned out to be a nice day.  We ended up not going rafting, we didn't get an early enough start and Jason didn't want to get home to late, which I totally understand.

But the one big deciding factor were the boys, they were done we had melt downs from both of them so it was time to go home.  Here is Noah throwing a fit because I told him no.   He threw himself on the ground and laid there for a couple of mins before he got up. I was sitting by the fire laughing at him.  I pulled out the camera took a picture then took a video of him before I got went to comfort him, am I a bad mom?  who knows but it was too funny not to have evidence of.  What I should of gotten was a picture of his face when he got up, he had dirt stuck to one whole side of his face.

This was Noah not long after, he had been calmed down and he wanted in his car set while I was loading up the car.

I am so glad that we went and we had a great time,  I am hopeful that I will be able to talk Jason into going again.

Flower Beds

Last year Jason and I wanted to re do our flower beds.  So I pulled out the few bushes that were there and that was about as far as we got.  I am not one that likes to do yard work.  I love having a nice looking yard I just don't want to have to be the one to take care of it.  Does that sound horrible?  maybe but it is how I feel.

There are a few stray bulbs that are left.  I am just waiting for them to go brown then I will pull them up and they will be gone.

So here came my mom to the rescue, (she does this alot coming to my rescue) she and a friend who knows a lot about flowers and stuff came up and looked at the flower beds and drew up a plan.  They came up last week and made it happen.  I love how it turned out, it looks great and I know it will look even better when things have a chance to grow and get bigger.  I have even been out watering them everyday like I was told to for the first week.  Lets say I am very glad I don't have to water like that any more.  Ashton actually helped me water a couple of times, he lasted for about 5 mins and he was done but it was still fun to involve him.

Thanks mom and Catherine for coming and doing such a great job.  I never could of done this on my own.

Ashton's big boy bed

I took apart Ashton's toddler bed last week and put it away.  I was so thrilled to be able to have his room back to some kind of order, the room just wasn't big enough to have two beds in it and be able to use the room.  I love how his room turned out.  I still need to get some curtains, but I can't seem to find any that Jason likes so I am still looking.  The good thing is that Ashton loves his new bed and that makes me happy.  I also used the new big bed as an excuse to take away his sippy cups when he goes to sleep.  He loves his sippy cups and lets be honest his is old enough to not need them any more so this is a good step to take them away at bed time, and so far he has been okay with it.

Then just because both boys rooms were clean I needed to take some pictures to document it :)

Memorial Day Weekend

We started out our weekend a little early.  Jason took Thursday and Friday off so he had a five day weekend.  My Dad was going camping and invited us along, but Jason wanted to tackle a house project while he was off so that is what we did.  Our deck has definitely seen better days, it was kind of a death trap I hated using it and I would not let the boys play on it at all.  I have searched to find a good picture of it but I can't find one and I didn't think to take a picture before he started to take it down.  It was missing steps, the railing were wobbly and if you moved much the deck would move with you.

Jason was able to get the deck all taken down Friday, then  he needed to figure out how to build a new deck in its place.  He spent the rest of the night researching what needed to happen.

Sat was not so productive we were only able to get the ledger up (it is an important part in keeping the deck attached to the house and helping make the deck safe).  My Mom and Myron came up and Myron was able to help Jason, I was not as helpful as he wanted with two little boys needing constant attention.

Sun we were able to finish the ledger, the beams and the joists.  I think the employees at Home Depot should  be recognizing us by now with the amount of times we have been there lately.  Mom and Myron came to help again then they took Ashton home with them, they were going to take Ashton to Day out with Thomas up in Heber on Monday.

Monday Jason and I got most of the decking up and installed by the time mom and Myron got back with Ashton. Mom said he had a lot of fun even though he wasn't feeling well.  Aaron came up and we had a BBQ in the backyard.  It was a pretty low key holiday weekend.

The deck is already much much more stable and secure than it was before.  I am excited to have it finished and to have a deck that we can use and I don't have to worry about it falling while we are on it.

New Car

We have had our new car for a week now and we love it.  The only thing that I am not going to love about it is filling the thing with gas.  Ashton has named it Daddy's new car, I think it is because he came home with it so it is Daddy's even though I am the one that drives it.

More activity

So went went to Primary Childrens today for Ashton's follow up appointment.  I have been trying to prepare him for this visit for about a week (he doesn't like dr's) telling him she was going to check him out and see if his head was all better and if it was then he would be able to go and play at the park again.  He was so excited we haven't been to the park since before his fall.

Everything looks good, she wants us to introduce some more activity, but still being a little cautious.  No trampoline and no summer saults, or scooter for another month.  But he is free to play again and he can ride his bike again.  We have to go back in 3 months to make sure things are still looking good.  I am so glad that we can now go back to our normal daily lives.
