Packing peanuts

This is what happens when a two year old is left alone in a room with a box of packing peanuts.
Just a little sample of whats to come!
A little more

It looks like it has snowed in the living room, it was everywhere, and it stuck to everything. I tried to be mad but it was just to funny.

It's christmas !!!

We had a great Christmas this year. We woke up around 9:oo am we had spent the night at my mom's house and we needed to be at my dad's house at 10:30 for brunch so instead of rushing to open presents and rush to get ready to go we decided to wait to open presents. Ashton and Noah didn't know the difference and we didn't care if we waited. We did let Ashton open one present from Grandma and Grandpa.

We had a yummy brunch with Dad and Val then opened gifts and just got the hang out and visit for a while. Then it was back to mom's house for presents and dinner.

We decided to have dinner later around dinner time, so that gave us time to get dinner ready and to open presents. Ashton kind of had the idea about presents. He would open them, with a little help from mom, but he would not put down the cars that he had already opened it was cute. We didn't let Ashton open the boxes with all his toys so he just got to look at most of his gifts till we got home. He really didn't seem to mind he had some cars to play with and he was happy with that.

I wasn't going to get Noah anything he is only 5 weeks old, and won't know the difference. But at the last minute I found some cute clothes and bought for him, so that was his Christmas. He got to wear two of the outfits he got due to an explosion from his diaper.

We had a great Christmas with lots of awesome gifts, and lots of yummy food. We actually decided to stay christmas night also, it was snowing and I was not in the mood to pack the car in the dark and in the snow. It was fun we stayed up late and played games with my parents. The next morning my mom watched the boys so that Jason and I could get a little extra sleep which was awesome for this sleep deprived mom.

Christmas Eve

Every year for Christmas eve we get together at my mom's house for a celebration with all of Myron's family. We have dinner, exchange presents and just enjoy every one's company. We decided to stay at mom's house instead of driving back and forth, it takes forever to pack up all the gifts and everything, this will probably be the last year we do this.

This year instead of the traditional drawing names and buying for that person, we did a gift exchange. It was so much fun one person picked a gift then the next person could steal that gift or choose a different one, until everyone had a gift. It was way more fun than just opening a gift, we are definately going to do this again next year.

Then of course Santa brought PJ's for the family. I tried to get a pic with the whole family but every time Ashton saw a camera he freaked out and did not want his picture taken. So no family picture this year. This was the best that I could get with the boys in their matching jammies on christmas eve. Ashton was watching Wall-E with uncle Leland and couldn't be bothered with a picture.

Lights at Temple Square

Tonight we went and saw the lights at temple square. We parked at Jason's office and walked a block to the trax station and then rode to temple square. Ashton did really good just walking with Jason until the end and then he only wanted to be held. He refused to wear gloves so his poor hands were so cold and red when we were done. Noah was all bundled up in a snow suit and in the baby sling he was the only one who was nice and toasty warm. We ended a fun evening by watching Polar Express when we got home.

Ashton was watching the horse and carriages go by, he was really excited to see the horses.
Jason and Ashton walking through temple square
Me and Noah, he really is under that blanketThe family shot, Ashton didn't want to have his picture taken tonight, Noah is under the blanket so you just have to imagine his cute face

Ashton got really excited to see the water and as if his hands weren't cold enough he decided to put his hands in the water

Merry Christmas to all

This year instead of having a traditional family photo I decided to just send out a birth announcement for Noah. I was going to send one anyways so this just saved me some postage. Besides I have made about 4 attempts to get a family pic taken and it hasn't been successful yet.

4 weeks

I can't believe that it has been a month since Noah was born. Its amazing how quickly one can adapt to new situations. I am typing this one handed with Noah in my lap and Ashton playing next to me, and I wouldn't trade this for anything.

Noah has finally got his days and nights straightened around, which is awesome for me so now I am kind of getting sleep at night now. I do have to say I would love to have a full nights sleep, but I am realistic enough to know that won't be happening anytime soon. Oh well its a good thing these kids are so cute it makes this all worth it.

Oh christmas Tree

Jason has wanted to get a charlie brown Christmas tree for the last couple of years now. I have never been a huge fan of them. I love the traditional Christmas tree, this year we decided to get a charlie brown tree. Now I realize that this isn't a true charlie brown tree but it is pretty close. We had to go and buy some new ornaments for the tree, when we tried putting ours on the tree they were so heavy that the branches were really weighed down. It was fun buying all new ornaments.

I love hanging these ornaments, I got them last year and they are still one of my favorite decorations.

Happy Birthday Jason

Happy 33rd Birthday Jason, I Love you!!!

I decided to brave the crowds this year and go shopping. I was awake and feeding Noah at 5:00am so I thought why not. I have not done this for years. It was fun, not as crazy as I thought it was going to be and I got some great deals. We had lunch plans with my family for noon, so when I got home from shopping I needed to hurry and get his cake baked and presents wrapped before people showed up. We had lunch at the Red Iguana one of our favorite restaurants ever. It is a little hole in the wall place but the food is awesome.

Then that night we had some friends over for pizza, cake, and games. Every year Jason gives me crap because I have not made him a cake. I finally did this year. It didn't turn out exactly like I had planned but oh well. Maybe next year will be better.

Happy thanksgiving

I have so much to be thankful for this year, For starters I am no longer pregnant. That in its self is something to be thankful for :) I have a wonderful family, great friends, I have two beautiful children, a great husband who loves me and puts up with all of my craziness (which right now I am attributing to the lack of sleep), I have a home, a car to drive, and a job. I have to say that I do feel truly blessed in this time of uncertainty.

We were heading home from being at my mom's all day on Thanksgiving, and I remembered that we hadn't taken a picture of the family. This is what we got. Ashton is in a I will not look at the camera phase no matter what we do oh well :)

Welcome Noah Alexander

Noah Alexander Kol joined our family November 18, 2008 at 1:57pm he weighed 7lbs 12oz and was 21 inches long.

He was not suppose to arrive for another 3 weeks but he decided that he was ready. I of course was just fine with that. I was so done being pregnant. This labor was so much better then with Ashton. It was much faster and my epidural actually worked, well the second one did any ways.

We had one little scare when I was in labor Noah had a bowel movement while he was inside so they had to have team of people there when he was born to put a tube down his throat and make sure they got all the mecconium out of him. All turned out great Noah was just fine.

Here he is fresh from his bath. I love all his dark hair.

It has been a much easier adjustment bringing Noah home than it was when we brought Ashton home. When you bring the first one home your lives change totally and completely, when you bring a second child home he just seems to blend in. Maybe its because I have felt so much better than I did with Ashton.
It is amazing how much you forget. The first few diapers I changed I felt like such a novice, he is just so small I am use to changing Ashtons diapers.

It has been so much fun watching Ashton interact with Noah. I wasn't sure how he would feel or what he would do with another person in the house. He has been awesome. It is so cute he will come up to him and pat his head and give him a kiss. If he is fussing he will try to give him a Binky. I am so excited to watch these boys grow up together.

Happy Birthday Ashton

I can't believe that my baby it 2. The time has gone by in such a hurry, it seems like just yesterday he we were bringing home this little thing from the hospital and not knowing what we were getting ourselves into. Now we have an awesome little boy and another boy on the way (in 3 weeks !!!!) , our lives are really going to be changed.

We had a party for Ashton yesterday with the family, it was fun we had dinner and opened presents and had cake and ice cream. Ashton did pretty good opening the presents, he actually opened them this year, that is until he opened his present from Uncle Aaron and Leland. They got him a wall-e. Then he wanted nothing to do with any other toy or present, it was actually quite funny.

Ashton with Wall-e, can you tell Ashton had something red to drink? Here we are blowing out the candles on his cake, but he won't let go of Wall-e for a second. Right after this he put his finger in the frosting and was eating it. He kept looking at the adults to see if he was going to get in trouble.
He ate his whole piece of cake and some ice cream. A couple of times he put his face right down into the cake, it was pretty funny. We decided to put together his train set, which he was excited about and had to be right in the middle of it all, but Wall-e was still right in his little hands. Finally he decided to play with something other than Wall-e

music

I added music to my blog, in case you haven't noticed :) I have decided that it is not to early to start playing christmas music so I have put in some of my favorites at the moment. I guess I better stop playing on the computer and go decided what to make for dinner.

Tired

Ashton has been in a big boy bed since Aug. now, we didn't want to buy another crib for this next baby so we just bought Ashton a toddler bed from IKEA. Overall he adjusted pretty well to the bed. We did have to put him back to bed a couple of times each night in the beginning. He soon adjusted and putting him to bed consisted of stories (some nights) and we would lay him down say goodnight and leave the room, with the door opened (if we closed it he will get up) and that was it and he wouldn't get up till the morning.

Well lately he has been wanting to come into our bed and sleep with us. I was so tired that I let him and that would end in Jason or I down on the couch. Ashton would want to sleep sideways in the bed and that doesn't work wit our queen size bed, plus he is such a restless sleeper I wasn't getting much sleep with him in the bed with me. So I have not put a stop to him coming to our bed. When he gets up we go back to his bed and lay down. Ashton does not like this at all he keeps pointing to our room and crying. It usually takes anywhere from 30 mins to 2 hours to get him to stay in his bed.

I will sit next to him till I think he is asleep then creep put of his room, sometimes this works sometimes it lasts a few mins. Now he is wanting us to lay down next to him. One night last week I actually laid him on the floor and I laid next to him and he fell asleep till morning. We need to get him a bigger bed, so we can actually lay next to him at night that would work much better than the floor I think. Hopefully I can get him back to his awesome sleeping habits in the next month before this baby comes. All I know is that I am tired all the time and I know that it is only going to get worse having a new born in the house.

Jump

Ashton's new favorite thing to do. This was before dad got into the action too, and we had lots more pillows all over the floor.

I loved this picture with his Lightenings and Maters. He still loves the toys but he won't watch the movie right now. All he will watch is Wall-e.

one more project done

Before

I have been wanting to cover my rocking chair so that it will look better in the baby's room. The chair just stood out way to much. I had the hardest time finding fabric that would go in the room. I never would of thought that finding blue and brown fabric would be hard but it was. I found lots of turquoise and brown, but the light blue and brown was just not easy to find.

I found this cute little fabric store near where I take Ashton to daycare so I stopped and found some brown fabric I liked so I bought a fat quarter and took it home to see how it would look. It was a floral print but I didn't think it was to feminine to go in a boys room.

After

I have never done anything like this before and I really didn't know what I was doing. But I am pretty pleased with how it turned out. When Jason got home last night he was shocked, he asked said it looked like a professional did it, now I am not sure about that but I am happy with how it turned out. There are just a few more touches I need to finish and the room will be ready for this little baby.

Halloween

This year Ashton was a monkey. I wasn't sure how he would do wearing his costume because he hates to have things on his head. But he seemed just fine with it. I put him in his costume about 4:00 while grandma was visiting and he stayed in it until I finally took it off about 8:30pm. I did feel a little bad when I took his hat off his poor head was so sweaty so I am sure he was hot. But he sure did make a cute monkey.
Off we go trick or treating

I loved how he was carrying his bucket over his shoulder

He did really well trick or treating. We only went to a couple of houses in our neighborhood. The first house we went to, the guy let Ashton pick what he wanted. So Ashton grabbed the whole basket of candy and handed him his empty pumpkin bucket and turned to walk away. This child sure cracks me up with what he comes up with sometimes.

After going trick or treating we had the Bellamys and the Gibsons over for dinner. Our menu included cockroach puree, roadkill, graveyard delights, and ghosts in the bayou. It was a fun dinner for the adults and the boys got to play.
