It official

I have finally changed my name. I am now officially Kara Kol. It has only taken me almost two years to get this done. No wonder I haven't done this before it is a pain in the butt. The list of places that I need to call just keeps growing. I got my social security card changed, a new drivers license, health insurance, and car insurance. The rest I will have to work on in the next couple of days.

another work trip

I had to go on another work trip this week. I drove to Jackson Hole, WY monday to teach a training class on tues morning for 1 person. I got to the store and was told that they were really busy and they were hoping I would just do the cake for them instead. Me being the nice person I am, I did the cake the decorator watched me and put the fondant on one of the layers so she would know how to do it in the future. I was at the store for about 2 hours, then I drove home again. So I had 2 hours of actual work and over 10 hours of driving. Needless to say I am sick of driving. I just want to be able to be home with my family. I use to like the traveling more than I do now. A day or two here and there isn't so bad it is actually nice to get away sometimes, but with being gone almost all week last week now two days this week it is a lot all at once. Hopefully I won't have to travel for a while now, we will see.

I saw theses pillars of ice along the way and had to take some pics of them, they were kind of interesting. They were just along the side of the road in a small town in WY.

the zoo

Ashton got to go to the zoo today with grandma. She was so excited to take him to the zoo. She had bought a zoo pass last year so that her and grandpa could take Ashton to the zoo, but he was so young he really wasn't interested last year. Now that he is older and likes animals it will be fun to take him more often. Anyways she has been dying to take him to the zoo before their pass expires so she picked him up this morning and away they went. She said he had fun watching what other kids were doing and trying to imitate them. I was kind of sad wishing I didn't have to work and I could go with them. I am thinking that maybe Jason and I should get a zoo pass to take him more often it would be a fun family outing.

There's no place like home

I am home finally (to a messy house but home none the least) It was so nice to be home with my boys tonight. I got home and picked up Ashton he wrapped his arms around me and laid his head down on my shoulder and didn't budge for about 10 mins when I had to put him in the car. It just melts my heart when he does that. He usually isn't still for that long any more so it is precious when he does. It was just so good to be home with my family, I didn't even mind having to clean the house.

First black eye

Today we went to Jeff's house for brunch. While we were there Ashton tripped and fell and hit his face on a stool. He ended up getting a little black eye. I felt bad for the little guy.

I am sad I had to leave my family and go to Boise for the week. I am going to miss my boys I can't wait till Thurs when I get to go home.

Mommy's little helper

I was in the office the other day and Ashton was really quiet for a few minutes so I went to check on him. He had figured out how to open the dishwasher, he opened it and proceeded to pull out dishes and throw them away. He would pick out what piece of cutlery he wanted then he would drop them into the recycle bins. It was too cute to be mad at him I had to take some pictures before I made him stop. Then I had to wash the dishes again.

He is such a cute little guy. It still just blows my mind that he is so big already. The time has gone so fast. He is just so much fun to have around. Ashton is such a mommy's boy right now so I loved this picture with him and Jason. I just love these boys.

finally a nice day

I have been waiting for a nice day to go out and put together Ashton's sand and water table set, that I bought him a while ago. Sunday was finally a beautiful day to do that. So while Jason was doing homework I went outside with Ashton and put it together. It was really easy I only needed Jason's help once. It came with a picnic table and the sand table. Ashton had fun playing with it and I think just being outside.

As you can see there is already sand on the patio, I am afraid it is going to be messy trying to get Ashton to keep the sand in the table, at least it is easy to clean up.

Here is one of my many bulbs that should be coming up, but I only have a few that are blooming right now. I should have more but we have had some deer in our yard this year. They ate all the leaves off the euonymus bushes and another bush that was right next to them. They also ate a ton of my bulbs right down to the ground so we will see if they bloom or not. At least we were helping feed the deer population after this awful winter right?

His hair was just to long and hanging in his eyes all the time. So I took him to get a haircut. Daddy gave him the last haircut and while it wasn't that awful, I like to take him and have it done. Although I am not sure why I want to when it is not a pleasant experience. He screamed and cried for most of it, at least I don't have to take him for a while again.

sewing machine

Yah my new sewing machine is here. I am so excited, I ordered it online from Costco.com on Friday and it showed up tuesday. I was in the mood to do some projects last week and I didn't want to go borrow my mom's machine. Jason told me to just go and buy one instead of wasting gas driving back and forth between my mom's house I was not going to argue with him. I don't plan on becoming some great seamstress or anything so I didn't need anything fancy. This brother XL2600i machine got good reviews from what I read and it wasn't that expensive.

My first project was to make a headband. I found this really cute pattern for them and wanted to make some. My hair is always pulled back so I thought it would be cute.

So here is my first headband that I made. I ordered this really really awesome fabric online from etsy.com it should be here any day now. In the mean time because I needed to do something right now, I went to Joann's and found some other material because I am impatience when it comes for waiting for things. I think that I might decide to tackle some curtains next we will see :)

Now I need to get back to work while Ashton is at daycare. I get easily distracted sometimes.

I felt like I needed to change the layout of the blog today. The other colors were a little bright today for me.
I am really not enjoying this weather right now. I am so in the mood for spring and there is snow in my yard again. This last weekend we got Ashton a sand and activity table and a picnic table so that he would have something to play with outside and it has been to cold to even get it put together. I was so excited to get this for Ashton especially since we got it for half price. Right now it is sitting on the back patio waiting for the next warm day. Oh well I guess we are living in Utah :)
Oh the UPS man just drove up I think that my new sewing machine is here gotta go.
