When did I get so old ?

This morning I found something. Something that I never truly thought that I would find. It made me a little sad to think that I am old enough to get these. I was combing my hair and I looked in the mirror and what looked back at me??? A GREY HAIR, I immediately did a double take, then I pulled it out. I know everyone says you should do this but I just couldn't help myself, it needed to be removed.

scooter and teeth

Ashton has been playing with some friends scooter for a while now. I decided he needed one of his own so I went and got him one. He was really excited about it and couldn't wait till we got home for me to put it together. He actually opened the box himself and started to try to put it together himself while I was eating lunch. It was really cute watching him trying to put it together. When I finally got it put together and we went outside. He played with it for a few minutes then he was done. Isn't that typical!!

Today I discovered on little pearly white tooth coming through Noah's gum. He is finally getting teeth. While I have been wondering when he would start getting his teeth, I am sad to see them come I LOVE his big gummy smiles, they just melt my heart. Also it means that my baby is growing up and that makes me sad. Another milestone he has decided to start mastering is standing by himself without holding onto anything. He can stand for about 5-10 seconds, I am sure he will be walking before I know it.

Pool Party

On Saturday we headed to Camp Williams to a pool party, BBQ. It was for all the families in Leland's unit. It was a perfect day to be at the pool. It was HOT, with a little bit of a breeze. At first Ashton didn't want to get in the pool, but after watching kids playing for a little bit he decided he wanted to join in on the fun. Grandma was nice enough to get in with him, he had so much fun. We took a break had some lunch and it was back in the pool.

Daddy got in with Noah for a while, and had a great time. We had one small incident, there was a large tube that someone had brought that everyone was playing in. Ashton was having a great time along with everyone else. Well they needed to go so everyone got out of the tube, except for Ashton he wouldn't get out, so they just pulled to tube out of the pool with him still in it. Then the next thing I knew Ashton slid off the side of the tube right back into the pool (the deep end). I didn't even have time to react, and My mom dove in after him. Ashton wasn't even fazed he wanted to get back into the water and he did. When it was time for us to go, we could not get Ashton out of the pool, I tried bribery of all kinds and nothing worked. I finally just pulled him out screaming. It took a minute or two and a cookie, then things were fine again. It was a fun day outside in the sun and with family.

a big hole

A couple of days ago, I was sitting at the kitchen table eating lunch with the boys and there was a knock on the front door. Standing on our front step were six anxious looking kids and our neighbor standing behind them. He had discovered the kids (two of them were his niece and nephew) decided to build a fort in between two of our large pine trees. (Our yard is like the neighborhood park, there are always kids playing and running through the yard. I am fine with this as long as they don't destroy things) Anyways they were building a fort and decided to cut some branches to make more room for there fort, that they had constructed with 2x4's and a couple large pieces of MDF. Now we have this huge hole in between these two trees that looks funny. I took the news pretty good, I knew Jason would not. I was dreading telling him what happened. So now we have to decided what to do, most likely we will cut the trees down, which makes me sad I liked these trees.

9 months

9 months ago I was holding a brand new baby in my arms and loving every minute of it. Here we are nine months later and the brand new baby is crawling all over the place, pulling himself up on anything he can, he has mastered going up the steps like he has been doing it for months and not weeks, and eating anything that is put in his mouth. I can't believe how fast the time has gone.

(the pillow behind Noah is my way of keeping him from climbing up the stairs, although he does still climb up the one step then he gets stuck cause he doesn't know how to climb back down. He will eventually just fall off the step. Now I know that sounds bad, but it is only one step and it is a soft landing. )

Chicago

Once a year Alphagraphics holds there annual conference, and I for one look forward to it. Jason not so much, he gets to work away from home for a week and I get to have a vacation some would think this was a win win situation but for a guy who doesn't like to travel not so much. Anyways, this year was no different I was so looking forward to conference, it was in Chicago and I have never been there, and (the big drum roll please) the boys were staying with my parents!!!! They got to spend half the time with my Dad and Val and the other half of the time with my Mom and Myron. I can't thank them enough for this wonderful. amazing break that they gave us. It was awesome to be able to do whatever I wanted instead of what they wanted. Now don't get me wrong I love my kids to death, but a mom needs a break once in a while. So Jason left for Chicago on Monday, I had two boys to pack for, plus make a wedding cake, and get myself packed in two days. So those days were a huge blur. Tuesday night came and I headed down to Utah county to drop the boys off. They didn't even care that I was leaving them. They had Nana and Grandpa to play with, plus two dogs and a kitten, they were in heaven. I left them in good hands then headed to drop off the wedding cake. Once that was done I was free to do whatever I wanted, that included some new make-up from the MAC counter at Nordstroms, and a mani, pedi it was a great evening. The only bad part of the night was when I got home the a/c unit had frozen up so the house was like a furnace.

I got to Chicago the next afternoon, got checked into the hotel and I needed food so I headed off to find some lunch, I ended up at Subway I know real exciting but it was close and I was hungry. That night for dinner we headed out for a dinner cruise on Lake Michigan. It was a perfect night for it, beautiful temperatures, a full moon, the food was great, and fireworks at the end. They took our picture before we boarded the boat and when we got off the boat they had the pics for us to look at and buy. I made Jason buy the picture, sometimes I am a sucker for those cheezy things. The next couple of days I spent exploring the city and shopping.

I was really surprised how clean the city was, I would love to go back someday with the boys and take them to the Lincoln park Zoo, and the Shedd Aquarium. It was an awesome week and Saturday night came way to quickly. The awards dinner was fun, the food was awesome and its fun to dress up once in a while. I would have to say the only sad part of the trip was the flight home 7:40 in the morning it meant for a really early morning following a really really late night.

1812 overture

Saturday night we went up to Deer Valley to the symphony to listen to the 1812 overture. I started going to this every year in 2001, it is so much fun to sit on the hill with our picnic food and drinks and enjoy the beautiful scenery and the awesome music. We haven't been for a couple of years, due to some reason. I decided we needed to go this year so we got a group together and went. There was Jeffery, Travis, Doug, Scott, Dee, Tyler, Jason and I. Seriously what more could a girl want, than an evening surrounded by these guys.

Jason and I got there first, even with dealing with the set back in Heber, there was a parade so main street was closed. 20 mins later we finally made it through town. We saved spots on the hill for everyone. We had a great time catching up with old friends and just enjoying the outdoors. The music was a little weird, there was this harpist who was playing a strap on harp and was telling stories along with the music. I didn't care for her at all, needless to say I was excited for the last number, and the 1812 did not disappoint. Mom and Myron were awesome and took the boys overnight, I felt bad for asking seeings how they were going to have them the next weekend also, but mom assured me that this is what grandparents do. We are so fortunate to have such awesome grandparents so close.
