Twin's b-day

It was the Twins birthday on Friday so we had a dinner and get together for them at Dad and Val's house.  AS usual the food was fantastic and it was nice to be all together as a family.

I know everyone LOVES it when I pull out the camera, but that is my job to take pictures to remember all these family things :)

Angela and Leland birthday boy #1, I only got a picture of Angela because I promised to only show her face, she is 8 months pregnant and doesn't think she looks cute but she is wrong!  She is one cute pregnant girl.  I wish I looked as good as she does when I am pregnant.

Birthday boy #2 Aaron

Leslie, Dad, Lindsey, and Val

Of course we needed to have some pictures of the favorite nephew and the birthday boys

Not sure who took this one I don't remember doing it, Josh and Tyson they are quite the pair

The look on the twins faces should tell you how they really feel about all my picture taking.  I made them this dessert it was cream puffs with  chocolate and powdered sugar over all of it.  Happy Birthday Leland and Aaron we love you guys

Leland

So about a week and a half ago,  on the 16th I got a collect phone call from Leland.  He was home on leave and wanted some one to come and pick him up from the airport.  I was the lucky one who got to do it, but only because I was the only one who was quick enough to get a credit card out to pay for the phone call.

I was happy to go and get him, and Ashton was pretty excited to see Uncle Leland too.  I picked him up and he came back to my house and hung out for a little bit and Dad who was on his way home from Ogden picked him up and took him home.

When I drove up to get him, he was talking to this old guy.  As I walked up to say hi the old man said " I am going to pray from him"  I thought it was kind of cute

Day Date

Jason and I have had the best day ever.  My mom took the boys last night and is keeping them till tomorrow.  I know I have the best mom in the world, she is willing to take the boys even when I know she is buried in things that she needs to do for herself, but she puts that aside to spend time with her grandchildren.

So last night we went to a late movie, we saw Easy A it was a cute entertaining movie.  This morning we got up and tried to decide what to do.  I threw out some ideas and Jason wasn't so keen on any of them, but lets face it if he had his choice we would stay home and not go anywhere (he is a homebody).  But I wanted to do things that are not possible with the boys in tow.

We went to the Farmers Market downtown, and got some delicious peaches, Asiago Cheese Bread, and some Espresso and Lavender Rubbed cheese this cheese was amazing.  We had some fire roasted pizza and topped it all off with some kettle corn.  It was only about 1pm by this time and I wasn't really ready to go home but we did need to get the cheese in the fridge so we headed home and had a snack with our bread, peaches, and cheese and headed out again.

We next headed to some consignment shops in the area found a lot of cool things but nothing that we had to have, and for lack of anything else to do we went to another movie.  This time it was Jason's choice we went and saw Wall Street: Money never sleeps.  It was good I enjoyed it.  We don't get to many movies any more so it was fun seeing two in two days.

I wasn't ready to be home yet and was hungry again, so we went to Sawadee for dinner.  It was a beautiful night so we sat outside on the patio and had chicken satay and yellow curry.  It was delicious and hit the spot, especially since I don't have to clean up anything.

It was such a wonderful and much needed day to spend with my husband with out the boys.  I don't realize how much I miss spending time with him alone until we actually get to do it.  I have said this before but I am so fortunate to have parents close by that are willing to take my kids and let Jason and I have time for one another.

State Fair

So last weekend we went to the state fair, and silly me I forgot my camera, but I did have my trusty iPhone.  The pictures aren't great but they are better than not having any at all.

We had lunch we got some Hawaiian BBQ it was delicious, saw some animals, Ashton and I rode a little roller coaster, and then we went home before the boys started to have no nap melt downs.  It was a great afternoon at the fair.

See look here is photographic evidence that I was actually there :)

What to do

Here is what Noah has mastered this last week.

I am so not ready for this, He needs to stay in his crib for a while longer.  I am thinking I need to get one of those crib tents.  I am undecided though it does seem a little mean but if it means that I get to sleep at night and it isn't an hour or longer process to put the kid to bed or down for a nap than I am game to try it.

Just kidding

Now a while ago I wrote how I finally thought that Noah was calming down and was mellowing in his daily fits.  Well as soon as wrote that he proved me wrong.  His fits are back with a vengeance, last night well actually it was early this morning I was woken up by Noah talking in his crib.  I figured he would go back to sleep and didn't think twice about it.  Think again, he starts screaming so both Jason and I did what we could for him and nothing worked so I told Jason to put a pillow over his head because he was going to cry this out.  There was no way I was letting him be awake at 4:30 in the morning.

All of the sudden I heard a thud, I thought it was the sippy cup he had so I kept listening and then I heard his door open.  The little stinker figured out how to climb out of his crib.  I put him back in bed and he did it again.  I was so tired and just wanted to sleep so I did what any sleep deprived parent would do, I let him come to be with us.  This lasted for a little while, but he never really settled he was wide awake and moving all over the place.  So I put him back to bed and hoped he would stay there.  He did thank goodness, and when he woke up after 8:30 I was getting Ashton ready for pre school, I heard little feet come running he had climbed out again.

I am not sure what to do about this Ashton never figured out how to climb out so I never worried about it.

Fast forward a few hours I had dropped off Ashton at pre school and I needed to go to the store for some milk so off we went.  I walked into the store and put Noah into the cart and he lost it screaming and carrying on.  I wasn't about to carry him through the store, so I tried to calm him down.  Nothing worked he even had a binky, then he dropped it and I wouldn't let him have it back (gross).  By this time he is screaming at the top of his lungs, people are staring at me left and right.  We haven't even been in the store for 5 mins.  It was so bad I had to turn around and leave.

He screams over everything, when it doesn't go his way.  As a matter of fact he is screaming right now because I took the remote control to the tv away from him.  This child is going to send me to the loony bin.  I am at a complete lost as to what to do with him.

Bear Lake

So I am not sure why this didn't post and I never notice till now, user error on my part I guess :) so here is what we did over Labor day weekend.

So a couple of weeks ago mom and I were talking about what we could do for Labor day weekend and both of us wanted to go somewhere but didn't want to spend a fortune.  I came up with the idea of going to Bear Lake, I have been wanting to go for some time now, so I got on KSL and found some cabins for rent and we found one that we liked and it was a great price so we decided to go for it.

We left Friday about noon and headed up.  Mom and Myron took Ashton and Noah and we had Tyson and Aaron with us in our car.  It is a beautiful drive and only about 2 hours away it is awesome.  The cabin we stayed at was great, it had 4 bedrooms and  three bathrooms.

We unpacked and decided to go and get dinner at one of the little drive in places, and of course we had to have a raspberry shake, you can't go to bear lake without having one.

Ashton found a tire swing after dinner and had a blast playing on it.  Noah tried but he couldn't stay sitting on the tire, he kept falling off.

After dinner we decided to go check out the beaches so we knew where we wanted to be the next day.  Ashton and Noah had so much fun they quickly headed for the water.  I was prepared to let them get wet the first night so I just stripped them down to their diaper and underwear ( a little ghetto I know but they had so much fun I couldn't stop myself)

Sat morning we got up and made breakfast and got ready for the lake.  We packed food for lunch and planned on staying most of the day.  We had a little mishap with the canopy we wanted set up for some shade, so mom and I went on a little shopping trip, we found to great umbrellas, a boat that we knew the boys would have a blast with.

We had a great time the weather was perfect, it was a little windy but not bad, the water was cold at first you had to get use to it but once you were it wasn't to bad.  At about 2:00 Mom and Myron took Ashton and Noah back to the house to have a nap and the rest of us stayed for a while longer. Jason ended up getting sunburned pretty bad (I did offer sunscreen but he didn't want any) so we had to stay out of the sun for the rest of the day.  The older boys (Tyson, Aaron, Jason, and Myron) were thrilled when they  saw the grass around the cabin so they were able to get lots of croquet playing in.

Sunday we were a little slower at getting to the lake, when we did manage to get there we only stayed for a couple of hours, it was really really windy and no one wanted in the water at all.  The wind was blowing so hard it was hurt when we got hit by the sand.  So we headed back to the house and just hung out for the rest of the day.

Monday we had to get up and tidy up the house and we headed home, it was an awesome get away.  We all left wanting to either buy or build a house there.  It is a perfect get away, it's not to far away, there is something to do year round, and it's not totally outrageously priced.  I am hoping that we can make this a yearly thing although I think I would like to go a little earlier in the year and stay a little longer.

Ashton's 1st day of preschool

Ashton was so excited to go to pre school this morning.  He woke up and the first thing out of his mouth was "Ashton go to pre school now?"  I had to remind him that we needed to get ready for the day and have breakfast then we would head to pre school.

Daddy was home today also so he was able to walk with us while we dropped Ashton off.

The second Ashton walked through the door, he was off playing with some toys, we had to remind him to hang up his back pack and then he could go play.

We said our good byes and he didn't even notice or care that we were leaving.  Noah on the other hand was quite sad that he was not able to stay and play.

While Ashton was at pre school, I headed to the store with Noah and got our shopping done for the week, and headed home and it was time to go and pick up Ashton.  That 2 hours went by in a huge hurry.

The kids were outside playing and having a great time.  My conversation with Ashton on our walk home:

Me: Ashton did you have so much fun at pre school?
Ash:  Ya
Me: What did you do today?
Ash: played in the sandbox, jumped on the trampoline, read a book, and ate cookies
Me: sounds fun, are you excited to go back tomorrow?
Ash: Ya

I am so excited and happy that Ashton is loving going to pre school and Noah is going to get some undivided mommy time three days a week.

Just one of those days

I have laundry that needs to be done, a kitchen that needs to be cleaned, a trip that I need to start packing for.  But what am I doing sitting here at my computer and I can't quite get up the energy to get going.

The boys are dividing their time between watching a movie and playing trains(which has taken over the living room and has been there for over a month now.  I don't love it but the boys will play for hours every day so I keep it there.  There is also the fact that there really isn't anywhere else for it to go.)  I have said it before but these GeoTrax have been the best investment we have ever made.  They get played with the most out of all their toys.
