Bear Lake

So I am not sure why this didn't post and I never notice till now, user error on my part I guess :) so here is what we did over Labor day weekend.

So a couple of weeks ago mom and I were talking about what we could do for Labor day weekend and both of us wanted to go somewhere but didn't want to spend a fortune.  I came up with the idea of going to Bear Lake, I have been wanting to go for some time now, so I got on KSL and found some cabins for rent and we found one that we liked and it was a great price so we decided to go for it.

We left Friday about noon and headed up.  Mom and Myron took Ashton and Noah and we had Tyson and Aaron with us in our car.  It is a beautiful drive and only about 2 hours away it is awesome.  The cabin we stayed at was great, it had 4 bedrooms and  three bathrooms.

We unpacked and decided to go and get dinner at one of the little drive in places, and of course we had to have a raspberry shake, you can't go to bear lake without having one.

Ashton found a tire swing after dinner and had a blast playing on it.  Noah tried but he couldn't stay sitting on the tire, he kept falling off.

After dinner we decided to go check out the beaches so we knew where we wanted to be the next day.  Ashton and Noah had so much fun they quickly headed for the water.  I was prepared to let them get wet the first night so I just stripped them down to their diaper and underwear ( a little ghetto I know but they had so much fun I couldn't stop myself)

Sat morning we got up and made breakfast and got ready for the lake.  We packed food for lunch and planned on staying most of the day.  We had a little mishap with the canopy we wanted set up for some shade, so mom and I went on a little shopping trip, we found to great umbrellas, a boat that we knew the boys would have a blast with.

We had a great time the weather was perfect, it was a little windy but not bad, the water was cold at first you had to get use to it but once you were it wasn't to bad.  At about 2:00 Mom and Myron took Ashton and Noah back to the house to have a nap and the rest of us stayed for a while longer. Jason ended up getting sunburned pretty bad (I did offer sunscreen but he didn't want any) so we had to stay out of the sun for the rest of the day.  The older boys (Tyson, Aaron, Jason, and Myron) were thrilled when they  saw the grass around the cabin so they were able to get lots of croquet playing in.

Sunday we were a little slower at getting to the lake, when we did manage to get there we only stayed for a couple of hours, it was really really windy and no one wanted in the water at all.  The wind was blowing so hard it was hurt when we got hit by the sand.  So we headed back to the house and just hung out for the rest of the day.

Monday we had to get up and tidy up the house and we headed home, it was an awesome get away.  We all left wanting to either buy or build a house there.  It is a perfect get away, it's not to far away, there is something to do year round, and it's not totally outrageously priced.  I am hoping that we can make this a yearly thing although I think I would like to go a little earlier in the year and stay a little longer.
